Green Team Play

 Green Team Play

Today moana syndicate went to ilminster for a play held by a group of people called the green team group. We hoped of the bus and walked in, there was a big stadium with lots of space. Once everyone had sat down a kid walked on the stage he was called Sean. He explained to all of us what the show was going to be about. Soon after four more people came on the stage( nanny koda, two crayfish and one kina. I knew one of the crayfish she was called Ashley I go to gym with her.

The play had started it was about why you shouldn't litter because it gets into our seas out can kill some of our amazing fish, why you should do your part and pick up rubbish and last but not least why you should reduce, reuse and recycle. As soon as they started  talking I could tell that this play was definitely not going to be boring.

Now four more people walked on the stage they were aliens and robots. One of the aliens is called Lyla witch is close to my name because my name is Lila. I found the play very interesting because no one ever stopped talking and that's what I'm like. My favorite parts of   the play was all the dances they did, my favorite dance they did was baby shark because they made up there own actions to the song.

Once the play was finished I felt like they have persuaded me into picking up rubbish, taking my part for picking up rubbish and to reduce, reuse and recycle. I think from now on I will take my part to pick up rubbish so I don't kill our animals and so I don't populate our earth and seas. The End

Kapa Haka Show at school.

 Kapa Haka show at school

Dingggggg my alarm clock went off as I stepped out of bed with pride and joy knowing that there was kapa haka today. It was only 5.30 so I grabbed my mom's phone and watched youtube till 6.00 o'clock, because that's when my mums alarm goes off. Every morning I have a morning routine were I get  out of bed, get dressed, have breakfast and then do my hair. Since its kapa haka I have to do my hair in half up half down, witch i'm not very good at.

When I got to school I ran to my  classroom  to start getting ready, because some of my friends were already ready. First I went to the hall to get my bodics on then I came back to the classroom to get my moko and lip stick on. Last but not least my bright yellow feather. I was all ready for the performance witch II love. Just before the bell rang my mum came in to take a photo of me and my friends(I hate photos).

Dingggg the bell rang I jumped up and rn down to the other side of the classroom ready to start the day. At 10 past 9.00 moana syndicate headed over to the hall ready to start kapa haka. The person videoing the performance was koka B's partner called Canaan. We were ready to start. Cameras rolling. The kaias started with a song called utaina, after that we had 5 more songs to do until we were finished for the whole year. Before we knew it we were done and dusted. We got back into our normal clothes and later on we are going to ilminster for a play called the green team play. The End.

My naritive in early L3 writing

My narrative in early L3 writing

Bang, crash bang! The sound of heavy rain pouring down onto the slippery roads outside my house in the evening. The flood was so bad the my my had to race to school to pick me and my brother up and race back home. I was so scared that our house was going to flood, and wreak some of our things.

In the evening in had now been pouring down for two days straight. The flood had started getting really bad that the water outside my house on the slippery road ahead now rises to shoulder deep with water. It was very scary.

Across the road from my house is usually a reserve, but now it has turned into a big swimming pool of sewage water exactly like our backyard. Yes our backyard.  My mum said that wee could of dived of the deck and not of touched the ground.

Then the news out break came out( everyone has to evacuate from sponge bay.) So me and my brother packed our bags and my mum drove us to our dads. The next morning my mum said the neighbourhood was so flooded the cars and trucks couldn't even open their doors. That same night it wass so floadeeed thhaatt we could seeee eels that had made their way out of the swamp up onto the roads, living there best lives.

A few days later our amazing city was back to normal bright and sunny again. I was so happy that our city was back to normal. The End

Take your marks, set, GO! Every four years athletes from all around the world come together to compete at the largest sports festival on the planet known as the Olympic Games. New Zealand has SO many great sportspeople and if you search up who is our greatest Olympian of all time, up pops Lisa Carrington, our amazing kayak sprinter who has won 6 Olympic medals. What if I told you that we had an Olympian from New Zealand who has won 19 Olympic medals for our little country. Yes 19!!! She’s my favourite athlete, and I  believe she’s  a total inspiration, I think she’s ALWAYS going for gold! Her name is Sophie Pascoe.

Today I am going to tell you a bit about Sophie Pascoe and why I think that SHE should be given that special title of New Zealand’s most decorated Olympian, which is currently held by Lisa Carrington. Sophie Pascoe is 31 years old and she lives in Christchurch. She is a swimmer and competes at the Paralympic Games every four years. When she was just two, she lost her leg in an accident where a lawn mower ran her over. She began swimming when she was 7 to help with her recovery. Aged just 15, Sophie was the youngest member of the New Zealand team at Beijing in 2008 where she won 3 golds and 1 silver in the Water Cube. Since then, she has won 6 medals in London in 2012, 5 medals in Rio in 2016, and 4 medals in Tokyo this year. Sophie is just as successful as our greatest able bodied Olympians - well actually if you count her medals, she’s even more successful! So why do we not call HER our most decorated Olympian

To be so successful, Sophie has to work very hard and she trains for hours and hours a week. The Paralympics involves a range of Paralympians who are so inspirational, and have overcome obstacles in their lives. I know how hard it is to swim with two legs, so imagine swimming with just one! Sophie must have to train so much harder. If any of you have watched Sophie race, you will know that she gives every race all she’s got and is always going for that gold medal! Surely she deserves to be called New Zealand’s most decorated Olympian right?

Now, I  know most of us watched at least some of the events at this year's Tokyo Olympics. I bet not as many of us watched the athletes compete at the Paralympics which were just a couple of weeks later. I think that it’s about time that the Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games were combined and held as a single event  so that our Paralympians would get the recognition that they deserve and they would be seen more as equals to our Olympians. Just imagine if the two events were combined… with Sophie on the team going for gold and adding her medals to New Zealand’s tally we would surely win!

Maybe if that happened then Sophie WOULD be known as our most decorated Olympian ever!

I hope by now I have convinced you that Sophie Pascoe is our most successful Olympian ever and just because she lost her leg in an accident, doesn’t mean that she should be forgotten about. She’s my favourite Olympian, she’s definitely New Zealand’s most successful Olympian ever, and I can not wait to see her GOING FOR GOLD in Paris in 2024!!!

This is my speech 2021. It is about why I think that Sophie pascoe should be given the title of New Zealand's most successful olympian.I hope you like it. THE END
