Green Team Play

 Green Team Play

Today moana syndicate went to ilminster for a play held by a group of people called the green team group. We hoped of the bus and walked in, there was a big stadium with lots of space. Once everyone had sat down a kid walked on the stage he was called Sean. He explained to all of us what the show was going to be about. Soon after four more people came on the stage( nanny koda, two crayfish and one kina. I knew one of the crayfish she was called Ashley I go to gym with her.

The play had started it was about why you shouldn't litter because it gets into our seas out can kill some of our amazing fish, why you should do your part and pick up rubbish and last but not least why you should reduce, reuse and recycle. As soon as they started  talking I could tell that this play was definitely not going to be boring.

Now four more people walked on the stage they were aliens and robots. One of the aliens is called Lyla witch is close to my name because my name is Lila. I found the play very interesting because no one ever stopped talking and that's what I'm like. My favorite parts of   the play was all the dances they did, my favorite dance they did was baby shark because they made up there own actions to the song.

Once the play was finished I felt like they have persuaded me into picking up rubbish, taking my part for picking up rubbish and to reduce, reuse and recycle. I think from now on I will take my part to pick up rubbish so I don't kill our animals and so I don't populate our earth and seas. The End

Kapa Haka Show at school.

 Kapa Haka show at school

Dingggggg my alarm clock went off as I stepped out of bed with pride and joy knowing that there was kapa haka today. It was only 5.30 so I grabbed my mom's phone and watched youtube till 6.00 o'clock, because that's when my mums alarm goes off. Every morning I have a morning routine were I get  out of bed, get dressed, have breakfast and then do my hair. Since its kapa haka I have to do my hair in half up half down, witch i'm not very good at.

When I got to school I ran to my  classroom  to start getting ready, because some of my friends were already ready. First I went to the hall to get my bodics on then I came back to the classroom to get my moko and lip stick on. Last but not least my bright yellow feather. I was all ready for the performance witch II love. Just before the bell rang my mum came in to take a photo of me and my friends(I hate photos).

Dingggg the bell rang I jumped up and rn down to the other side of the classroom ready to start the day. At 10 past 9.00 moana syndicate headed over to the hall ready to start kapa haka. The person videoing the performance was koka B's partner called Canaan. We were ready to start. Cameras rolling. The kaias started with a song called utaina, after that we had 5 more songs to do until we were finished for the whole year. Before we knew it we were done and dusted. We got back into our normal clothes and later on we are going to ilminster for a play called the green team play. The End.

My naritive in early L3 writing

My narrative in early L3 writing

Bang, crash bang! The sound of heavy rain pouring down onto the slippery roads outside my house in the evening. The flood was so bad the my my had to race to school to pick me and my brother up and race back home. I was so scared that our house was going to flood, and wreak some of our things.

In the evening in had now been pouring down for two days straight. The flood had started getting really bad that the water outside my house on the slippery road ahead now rises to shoulder deep with water. It was very scary.

Across the road from my house is usually a reserve, but now it has turned into a big swimming pool of sewage water exactly like our backyard. Yes our backyard.  My mum said that wee could of dived of the deck and not of touched the ground.

Then the news out break came out( everyone has to evacuate from sponge bay.) So me and my brother packed our bags and my mum drove us to our dads. The next morning my mum said the neighbourhood was so flooded the cars and trucks couldn't even open their doors. That same night it wass so floadeeed thhaatt we could seeee eels that had made their way out of the swamp up onto the roads, living there best lives.

A few days later our amazing city was back to normal bright and sunny again. I was so happy that our city was back to normal. The End

Take your marks, set, GO! Every four years athletes from all around the world come together to compete at the largest sports festival on the planet known as the Olympic Games. New Zealand has SO many great sportspeople and if you search up who is our greatest Olympian of all time, up pops Lisa Carrington, our amazing kayak sprinter who has won 6 Olympic medals. What if I told you that we had an Olympian from New Zealand who has won 19 Olympic medals for our little country. Yes 19!!! She’s my favourite athlete, and I  believe she’s  a total inspiration, I think she’s ALWAYS going for gold! Her name is Sophie Pascoe.

Today I am going to tell you a bit about Sophie Pascoe and why I think that SHE should be given that special title of New Zealand’s most decorated Olympian, which is currently held by Lisa Carrington. Sophie Pascoe is 31 years old and she lives in Christchurch. She is a swimmer and competes at the Paralympic Games every four years. When she was just two, she lost her leg in an accident where a lawn mower ran her over. She began swimming when she was 7 to help with her recovery. Aged just 15, Sophie was the youngest member of the New Zealand team at Beijing in 2008 where she won 3 golds and 1 silver in the Water Cube. Since then, she has won 6 medals in London in 2012, 5 medals in Rio in 2016, and 4 medals in Tokyo this year. Sophie is just as successful as our greatest able bodied Olympians - well actually if you count her medals, she’s even more successful! So why do we not call HER our most decorated Olympian

To be so successful, Sophie has to work very hard and she trains for hours and hours a week. The Paralympics involves a range of Paralympians who are so inspirational, and have overcome obstacles in their lives. I know how hard it is to swim with two legs, so imagine swimming with just one! Sophie must have to train so much harder. If any of you have watched Sophie race, you will know that she gives every race all she’s got and is always going for that gold medal! Surely she deserves to be called New Zealand’s most decorated Olympian right?

Now, I  know most of us watched at least some of the events at this year's Tokyo Olympics. I bet not as many of us watched the athletes compete at the Paralympics which were just a couple of weeks later. I think that it’s about time that the Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games were combined and held as a single event  so that our Paralympians would get the recognition that they deserve and they would be seen more as equals to our Olympians. Just imagine if the two events were combined… with Sophie on the team going for gold and adding her medals to New Zealand’s tally we would surely win!

Maybe if that happened then Sophie WOULD be known as our most decorated Olympian ever!

I hope by now I have convinced you that Sophie Pascoe is our most successful Olympian ever and just because she lost her leg in an accident, doesn’t mean that she should be forgotten about. She’s my favourite Olympian, she’s definitely New Zealand’s most successful Olympian ever, and I can not wait to see her GOING FOR GOLD in Paris in 2024!!!

This is my speech 2021. It is about why I think that Sophie pascoe should be given the title of New Zealand's most successful olympian.I hope you like it. THE END

Playing Bingo at EL3 spag

 Bingo

Today in EL3 spag our whole group played a big game of bingo. The words on the card were called emotive words. Emotive words are words that you could use in your writing like ( sorry, gloomy, curious, sickly, cross) and lots more.  Emotive words are words that express your feelings. you can use emotive words in a sentence like ( I am so sorry and I feel a bit sickly. I hope by now I have taught you a bit about emotive words.

Wednesday, 20 October 2021

Today in Spag EL3 we did high modality words. WE had to write all or high modality words down on a web site called word clouds. For example words like ( I know, definitely, will, should, can) and lots more. High modality words are used in a sentence like I know I am going to school or I will give it my best in athletics. Thanks to EL3 SpAg I will use high modality words in my writing all the time.

My first day back at school

My first day back at school

At 6.00 in the morning my alarm clock started screaming. I jumped out of bed and ran to get my little bunny, turns out my brother had already grabbed him. I ran to my bed room and started getting dressed into warm cloths because it my mum told me in as going to be raining. At 7.30 I start to do my hair witch is always very stressful because I hate bumpy hair, it takes me like 10 minutes just to put it into a ponytail.

Every day we leave the house at 7.50am so we can get to school quite early, because my brother says that 8.00 is to late. When we got to school the was a huge crowd of cars in the parking so we had to park up the top like always.I was super excited to see my friends and teachers.

When the bell rang the first few moana rows, room 5 and nga nuru had to go to the hall for a powhiri. WE sang two of our school songs, I love singing by the way. We walked back to class and got straight into our mahi. The first half of the day has been going great so I hope the rest of the day goes great as well.

In L3 strand our teachers made a slide for as to write in. There was around five text boxes one for the capacity, mass, volume, weight and weigh.

Action Day Walk

Action Day

Yesterday 28th of september my class went on a huge walk, down scarlys way and through a gate and on to Murvs land. We walked down a really slippery hill to a stream it was knee deep. I tried to jump over but my foot slipped and I fell on my hands and got them super muddie. Someone from my class slipped and fell right into the water and got so wet.

We started walking, I got so hungry because we missed brain break. Our first stop was at 11.10 at a big tree. The break was only for 10 minute, there was so many bees and wasps on my food. When we keeped walking we got to a gate, the entrance of the gate was so muddy that my feet keep getting stuck.

As we walked through the gate we started to see so many calves and huge cows mooing at us. Out of all the calves I thought the orange ones were the cutest. Over the hill we saw lots of lambs and sheep getting chased by the cows. Yay we finally made it to half way and another lunch break. This lunch break was a little bit longer, it was like 20 minutes.

The sun finally came it was so warm. On the way back we got to the tree in like 10 minutes it was super fast but really muddy. When we got back to the river I was exhausted. The way there took way longer than it did on the way back. Instead of jumping over the river I just walked through and got my shoes soaked but it took some of the mud off. At the end of the day I had done 20,000 step and 14km. It was a big day.

Oh and I have gymnastics after school. THE END

Cross Country

Cross Country

Last Wednesday, Moana Syndicate ran their cross country. At 9.15 in the morning moana syndicate walked down to the sand dunes were cross country is held. The order of running is usually year 6 girls, year 6 boys, year 5 girls and then year 5 boys then the year 4's came down and ran their cross country. My goal for cross country was to run the whole way and to come in the top 5.

Take your marks set Go!! I ran of the starting line with a very bad start, I was nearly at the back of the group. My Mum was standing at the first corner taking photos and cheering for everyone. Year 5 girls ran to big laps of the track witch is 2km. As I came around for my second lap I was in 4th place with the 3rd place girl not to far in front of me.

Yay its the end and I came 4th place woo hoo. Lola came first, Betsy 2nd, Indie 3rd, Me 4th and then Zoe 5th. Lola and betsy were super close together the whole way around the cross country track, even at the end they were super close. At the end of the day I was super proud of myself for coming 4th place.

The End.

Back To School

On thursday we went back to school after being in lockdown for three weeks. I was a little bit nervous but also excited to see my friends. I hadn't really talked to any of them over lockdown but I had seen Betsy biking past. The only time I saw them was on class chats so I was looking forward to talking to them.

We played lots of games. We played soccer, build up, and under knee tag. My favourite game to play is under the knee tag because you get to run around a lot. I also really enjoy playing build up because you get to hide and chase people around the whole school to try tag them.

We also planted seeds in the garden. Me, Charlotte, Aria and Betsy planted sunflower seeds, watermelon seeds, tomato seeds, and lettuce seeds. When we started planting someone dropped the seeds so we had to get some more but that was fine. We had to draw a garden plan of the olla and were we will put the seeds around it. I'm most looking ford to eating the watermelon and tomato.

We also went to the beach and played bull rush which was fun. When ever we play bull rush I always get a sore ankle and have to watch everyone else play. Bull rush is not one of my favorite games because all you do is run and dodge people. Some people think its really fun though.
I had a really fun time being back at school.

Trampoline tricks

 Trampoline tricks

In lock down I've been learning super fun trampoline tricks like a back-flip,back-handspring and a back walkover. My favorite trick is a back-handspring, because you don't need to bounce, you just bend your knees and go over. I learnt how to do a back flip first and then a back handspring and then a back walkover. My dad taught my how to do a backflip and I taught myself how to do the other tricks.

Backflip

A backflip is like a front flip but instead of going forwards you go back. To learn, my dad hopped on the tramp with me and grabbed my t shirt and counted to 3 and helped me flip. This made it less scary to learn because I knew if I fell he would catch me. After a few times with dad holding me, I could do it by myself. In no time my brother could also do it!

Back handspring

A back handspring is like a back flip but you bounce lower and your hands touch the trampoline, and you flip over backwards. To learn how to do this trick I practised doing really low back flips and then started putting my hands down on the trampoline when I flipped over. I only learnt how to do a back handspring a couple of days ago so I will need to keep practising.

Back walkover

A back walkover is like a back handspring but no bounces and when you go over your legs are split. To learn how to do a back walkover I just did a back handspring with my legs split, and then did the exact same but with no bounces and then I did a back walkover. In no time you will be able to do all the tricks easy. Just keep practicing.

The End

Lock down

 Lock Down

Lock down has been really fun because you get to do online learning and online video chats which I really enjoy. My favorite online learning workshop is probably maths because it is super fun and exciting and I like getting the maths problems right. I think online learning is better than school learning because at school you always have to stop for food breaks and at home you can just eat while you're working. I also like it better because you can start your work at like 6 am in the morning and finish your days work early and then play for the rest of the day. Another reason lock down has been really fun is because our neighbour Cael is in our bubble so we always play with his walky talkys.

Today we went up to my papa's farm for the night and I thought it would be a good time to do my work out on the deck in the sun. I decided to do half of my blog in the morning and half of it at night. Out at the farm we played a game of cricket out on the lawn, and it was funny because my dog Tillie kept stealing the ball from the ground. After we played cricket we went for a drive to go get some firewood for the fire. Now we are just chilling and having dinner on our beds.

In lock down I taught my mum how to knit and now shes way better then me, we're aiming to make a blanket. So far we have about a quarter of a blanket done. My mum wants to finish the blanket before lock down is over. Mum doesn't know how to cast on yet so I always have to do it for her. Now that I got the hang of it it's really fun and addictive. I think this is now my mums favorite thing to do. This is definitely our lockdown project.                                              This is what it looks like we still have a few pieces to connect to it.

My day at home.

 My Day At Home

Today I did not go to school because I woke up with a super sore tummy and I was so tired. I didn't get out of bed till 7.00am witch is super late for me. My brother Jack goes to school at 7.50am so I did not have lots of time to get ready. My mum suggested for me to stay at home well they go drop him of but if you don't know me I hate staying home by myself I wouldn't even stay inside by myself when they go for a walk around the block.

Math whizz

When my brother went to school we came home and i got right into my school work. I first did my math whizz then my story starters and then my blog comment and now I am finally doing my blog post. My favorite priority to do is my math whizz because I always try to beat people in points so i can be on the school leaderboard or the buddy leaderboards.Right now I have 180 credits this week and all up I have 939 credits. Last week I had nearly 2000 credits then a boy in my class spent most of them witch was super annoying.

Story Starters

Story starters is my second favorite priority because you only need to write two quick stories. Story starters are were you have this site on the hub that gives you lots of different story starters that you have to pick from. My story starters that I did today was "the air turned black all around me" and "Footsteps slowly creaked of every step of the stairs". After you have write down the story starter you can write whatever else you want.

Blog Post

A blog post is a piece of writing about your week. Sometimes you teachers can pick what you write about or other times you can choose something about your learning. This week I am not doing my blog about my learning because I am doing it about being home sick. Usually I would do my blog post about L3 strand, but this week I can not because L3 strand is today monday and I am at home sick.

Blog Comment

A blog comment is a little piece of writing like a sentence or something that you have to write below someones blog post. I did my blog comment today. I choose Esther's blog post to write under because it was about the midnight gang witch is one of my favorite books to read.  For a blog comment it has to has proof that you read it ,something they have done well, something that they could improve and a question. That was the end of my hard work at home.

L3 Strand Group

Yesterday I had level 3 strand group. Level 3 strand is one of my favorite groups because we usually learn about the olympics. Koka Ngaire told us to get in a pair of two with the person next to you then she gave us 1 book shere between our bubbies. Last week in strand we worked on the blue side of the book so this week we are working on the green side of the book. In the book there are 3 question that we have to answer in our  free time before next strand group on monday.

The questions are which continent has hosted the most summer olympics up to 2004. Which continent has hosted the least summer olympics up to 2004 and why do you think this has happened. We also had to finish this graph that we started making. I finished the questions and the graph right away after work shop.  I had done most of my work on the graph in workshop so I didn't need to do a lot of work after. My workshop is on monday so I finished my questions on tuesday.

This is what the questions and graph look like when there  finished.

L3 Number

Yesterday I had a number  math group we learnt how to solve any addition question with decimals (2dp) by using place value. For me it was just like algorithm but with decimals. We had four questions up on the board that we had to unser by ourselves. Koka rozie did the first question with us so we got the hang of it, but the other three we had to do on our own. This is what it looked like after.

Matariki dance inquiry

 Matariki dance inquiry

The last week of school our teachers gave as a new inquiry topic it was matariki. Matariki is a maori new year which is very well known there is a song about them stories and lots more things. For our inquiry we got the choose to do a dance a poem  drama or music. I choose to do a dance I found a group of nine people to be in the dance.

The sisters names

The dance had nine of my friends betsy,Aria,Kyla-rose,Bridie,Millie,krissie,Zoe,Betsy and me. We started our dance yesterday and finished today to be honest it was very easy to complete. We had the whole day to practise so we went hard and got finished before morning tea. On the last day of the term we were performing but i don't think i would there so our group videoed it so the class could watch it on the big screen. Once we finished we were all happy with the dance.

My work shop

On monday I had to go to the hospital because I hurt my ankle. When I came back to school I had a workshop. I didn't understand at first but then my friend Aria helped me.  We started of with a X&O grid and draw a house in the middle grid and all the others had to have 3 sheep in them. There were four windows one on the top one on the bottom one on the left side and one one the right. Every window had to see 9 sheep and there had to be 25 sheep all together.

Here a example.

Beach clean up

Beach clean up

Yesterday most of the class walked down to the surf club and back in a group of three with one bucket. We left school at 9.15 so we could get back to school just in time for brain brack. It is a competition in your group of 3 to see who can pick up the most rubbish on the way to the surf club and back.

Walking to the surf club

We started our walk to the surf club. At first we could not find any rubbish. By the time we got to the surf club we only had about 5 pieces of rubbish in our bucket witch was not a good sign for winning. We got to the surf club and we stayed there for a little so we can find lots of rubbish. We did not stay there for as long as I thought but we still found lots of rubbish in the river on the driveway and even by the rubbish bins.

Walking back to school

When we left the surf club we quickly stopped at hamanatua at walked up the walkway. At the top of hamanatua we found quite a lot of rubbish like cans plastic cups and plastic bags.We walked back along the road to school and we found a lot more rubbish in the gatters and in gardens. Before we knew it we were back to school. When we got back to school we put our buckets out the front by the gardens well we had brain break. And that was the end to our very fun beach clean up.

rhythmical blog post

 rhythmical blog post

Yay its time for rhythmical. I ran out side for morning and rhythmic. Rhythmic is a type of dance you do when you perform at the gym fest . Every morning and some lunch times we do rhythmic training with a lady called Jacks a kid at our schools mum. The first couple days we went to training we learnt the whole dance now we are just learn some gym moves to put in the dance.

yesterday me and my friend Aria tried doing a new move witch was going well at first but then turned the other way. She fell on her head. Aria was sick the next day and I was sick for the whole rest of the week and also on monday so we could not practice our move. I was back on tuesday and she is now more confident to do it so we are going to keep practising until we get it. Me and Aria are practising our chuck and tuck witch is a backflip but they person that is tucking get to put there foot on the other person hand and we both think that we are going to do it today.

When I was sick at home my mum told me that on friday the rhythmical team is going to the gym club to practice our routine there so we now how big it is for the day. The gym fest is in a week so we really need to practice Even though we are nearly done we still need to practise. Today we have rhythmical and I am super exited because I have missed couple practises.  But I am really exited still.

 Little blue penguin life cycle

Yesterday me and my writing  group got given a task to make a blue penguin life cycle. Me and my friend betsy worked together but we just could not work on the same chromebook because we had to make our own. you could choose to do in on a doc, slides or paper. me and betsy choose to do it on a doc so you could digitally put the pictures in without needing to draw them. We got right to work. For some reason it was easier then I thought it was going to be because we just put in a few pictures and write a little bit under them. Before we new it we were done. The pictures had to be of an egg, little penguin, penguin molting, penguin going out to sea and a adult penguin.

This is my slides in the link beside the wrting.  penguin life cycle

My blog post about my learning

 Kawa of care

Yesterday koka rozie told as to get into our buz groups because we were doing a thing called the big think posters. Each buz group had one minute of each big think poster, there is 6 big think posters all together. When we had finished all the big think posters whatever paper you had at the end one person in each buz group read out the thing that they agreed with most.

The next day we keeped working on the big think posters but not with our buz groups because we got to pick a buddy to work with so I chose Betsy. The big think poster that me and Betsy choose was how to hold a chromebook. It seemed easy at first but then the teachers told us that we are only allowed to have 30 minutes to do our whole slide. The timer started and we got to work. We first choose the background colour, did the picture and then last but not least we did the text boxes and showed the teachers.

The big think poster that we did is going to be linked to our task tracker so we did it our best so we could sign it of our best. These are our slides down below they are about how to hold your chromebook without dropping it and casing damage.

The one and only scariest Friday of my life

 The scary Friday

Waking up from a screeching sound, put a shock on my face! I was so scared to find out what the sound ment. I jump out of bed with a scared look on my face, I ran out the door to find my dad he looked shocked but he already knew what is was. A 7.4 earthquake. I couldn't  believe my eyes. Since it was a school day we always go to my mum's place at 7.00am in the morning. I was so scared, anyway when my brother and I got to Mum's place we right away wanted to tell her that we didn't wake up, when we told her she was kind of surprised and started laughing but I really didn't know why. She told me that they had to evacuate because they lived so close to the water that if there was a tsunami it could of hit us.

Time to go to school

We hopped in the car with a scared look on our face because we thought that we would have to evacuate and walk up the hill. I got to school, the morning went way faster than it usually does and that made me even more scared. Ding Ding the bell rang, that meant we had to come in side. Today I was really excited because we got to find out who house caption's are. We started the day of with a karakia then the teacher made us breath in, then breathe out, then breath in, and breathe out just so we could relax.  Koka Ngaire    made us a video of who the house caption's are and one of them was my friend Betsy, she is in Mango and she was super happy.

Before we even got to look at the whole video an alarm on Koka Rozie's phone went off, some people were so scared that the even started crying. Koka Rozie had to go check with Koka Nolian if it was real and if we had to go line up and it was real. Koka Pip made us go line up on the deck and walked up to our posts where the teacher counted all the kids. Luckily all the kids were there and Koka Nolian told us that it was just a drill and she just needed to tell us something so we went back to class to carry on with our work.

So we came back in to class and all the scared looks were wiped of our faces. The teachers decided to just let us do some work on our chromebooks. Then my mum and nana picked me up and took me home. As we started to arrive at home I was starting to get  really scared that I started crying. My whole family was so scared when they were watching the news. On the news we were watching the  tsunami up the coast. Me and my brother Jack were super scared that we just wouldn't stop crying. So we decided to go play outside. Even though I am still super scerd I am very happy that me and my family is safe.

The end

The one and only greatest swimming sport's

Dingggggg my alarm clock rang and I ran out to the lounge were all my gear for swimming sports. I was so excited to just dive into the warm swimming pool. I hopped into togg's and then got my clothes on over top. I was so excited I just wanted to do flips onto the couch. For breakfast I had weetbix and toast so I did not need to eat before my race. After I had breakfast I put my focest face on, hopped into the car and drove to school. The teacher's said that we had to meet them in the hall at 8.15. I got ready put my bag away and sing in.

Driving to swimming sport's

Me and my friend's meet in the hall at 8.15 so that the teacher's could put us into car's. I was with Charlotte's mum in the car was Me,Aria,Lola and charlotte. We put our seet belt's on started up the car and drove away. All I was thinking about was my race I am doing two lenth's freestyle for some reason I was super scared that I was going to false start. As we drove past the ice-cream shop all we saw was about 50 old people at the ice-cream shop it was so funny. We had to park outside of the ice-cream place because the car park was all ready so fill. as we were walking in we meet my mum there and walked in with her.

Time For Racing

I walked in with a weird look on my face it was like I was excited but nervous at the same time to me it looked pretty weird 🤪.  There was not long until the atchill racing started it went the year 6 first then year 5 then year 4 i was in year 5 and my brother was in year 4. I got called up for my race I was supernervouss I got my goggles and went to line up my mum was the timekeeper of my lane so she kepped me comperne. Yay I Said too myself as I went to go stand on the block it felt like i was waiting in line forever . The whistle went and I dived into the pool. I have to be careful because I new that it was two lenth's so I had to take breath's quite a lot. Yay the race is over and I got second in my heat I was super proud of myself. Later on the day I just had to find out that I missed out from being in the finals by point 10 of a second. I was so gutted when I found out that I was not I the finals but you will never know I could always be in the finals next year❤️

When everything was over and done with my mum decided to just take us home so that means that we did not need to go back to school. On the way home me and my brother kept begging mum to stop and get as a treat and lucky enuf we begged her so much that she said yes so we got a ice-cream. I was so happy.

The Berry breeze smoothie

 Berry breeze

I came to school with a smile on my face because I new it was going to a amazing day because we are making smoothies. My class was making the smoothies at school because we were have a fun week at school because the year sixes were not here. I was in a team of 3 with by friend Betsy,Zoe and me. We each had to bring thing's for the smoothie I was bringing ice-cube's, cup's, blueberries and blackberries. Our smoothie's that we were making is going to be a berry smoothie but there was one thing that made it taste not us good as we thought it was going to taste. The teacher was going to film us making it and we only got 5 minutes.

There were 5 team's in the comp and we were one of them. We were going to get filmed second a team could the sweet DNA was going first. Yay it is finally our tern to make our smoothie's we were nervous because they did super good. We slowly and carefully brang our fruit platter with all our stuff on it over to the table were she filmed us, one thing that made me super nervus was that everyone was watching us. Click koka pip started the video we had a whiteboard behind us with what we were going to have two say on it. First we explained who we are then I was the first person to talk I read out all the thing equipment that we needed. Zoe read out half of the ingredients and Betsy read the other half of them.

It was time to read out the step's we each had a tern I read the first one out then did what it said then the second then the third and it kept going and going until we were up to the pouring part. We had to stop the video so that we did not need to pour it in the video. Betsy was on the pouring we each got half a glass of smoothie each. I had one sip of it and knew something was wrong with it and right away I knew that we had put way to much cinnamon from my taste buds I did not like it but you never know one of the judge's might think different.

The day has gone so fast it was nearly lunchtime and we knew what that meant it was time for the koka Nolian and koka Margo to juge. When we were at lunch koka Margo and then after lunch koka Nolan judged. I had a suspicion that koka Nolian would not like it but I would never know. It was time for them to tell us what place we got and yup I was right about koka nolian but at least koka margo did not put us in last. But over all at least we had FUN.

Our boat

 The boat

Yesterday Koka Pip told us to find a buddy because we were making boat only out of 2 thing butcher paper and tape and lucky we got to work with scissors as well. I was in a team with my friend Betsy we were planing to make the NZ boat but it was very hard. First koka Pip got us a big roll of paper and if we wanted so we had to go cut some of it. Since it was our first time getting a piece of paper we decided to get a lot. each team started of with one roll of tape each and us much paper us we wanted. There was one rule it had to be 20 cm or longer otherwise we would get disqualified.

The first thing we did was to start the boat of was make a the easy little details like the sail's and the hydrophile and left the bottom of the boa for last. For us to know which way we were going to make the sail's and the other thing's me and Betsy both did the way that we wanted then at the end we would see whos was better. And that is what we did to all the pieces until we got to the end it was the hardest part the bottom. The bottom was the hardest for us because we had to put tape on all of it so it could help it float. Me and Betsy both made one side of the boat each and then cut them so they could be the same size. Then we taped them both together then taped all the sail's and other things on.

The next day early before school started I took some thing's of and replaced them with better thing the a platform so it was more steady.  Later on that day we tested out the boat's we knew that ours was just going to fall over and fill up with water. We went to line up outside of the pool with our boat's. I lined up at the end of the pool getting ready to put my boat in the water 3,2,1 we put our boat in the water and yes we were right it fell right over and filled up with water but it did not sink. But overall it was super fun to make it was a good day.

Horu Hopu

 Horu Hopu

On Wednesday, I arrived to school at 7.45am in the morning with a smile on my face.  I was so excited for today! We had a Horu Hopu tournament out at Patutahi. I met my teacher in the hall at 7.50 so we could leave at 8.00. My friend Betsy's mum was taking me, Betsy, Prince and the teacher.  On the way there Betsy's little brother Amos was singing this really funny song and we were all laughing at it.

 Getting started

Once we got out of the cars, Koka Rozie gathered us to talk about our exciting day ahead of us.  She encouraged us to try our best and have a positive attitude and to have lots of fun! Our first game was playing Manutuke. We were very nervous but also very excited! We lost the game but I think we learnt heaps and worked well as a team. We walk but over to where to were we put our bags before the game started. We were kind of board and there were lots of acorn's on the ground so we started making a big pile of peled acorns.

Before we knew it, it was our second game and we were playing St Mary's . I was looking ford to this game a bit more then the first game because we learnt quite a lot from the first game. In between our first and our second we had a 25 minute break so we practiced our passing skills. We hoped on the field that we were playing on  and got into our position. And the passing skills were worth it because we one but we sadly lost the next game.

This time in between the game's it was an hour so in that time we peled more acorn's and we practiced more of our passing until it was our next game. Agin the time in between went super fast so it was already time for our next game and we are playing Hobin school and they had all different aged people so it was a bit confusing. We hoped on the field and got into our positions. And again the passing skills were worth in because dan da ra ra we one our last game.

At the end of the day we packed and then went to the front so we could have a end of day karakai and then we hoped back in the car's. On the way back to school we begged Betsys, Mum for an ice-cream on the way back to school maybe but then we ended up not getting one. When we got back to school everyone ask us were we had been and we just said no were.

My start of school highlights 2021

My start of school highlights 2021

This year at we have done a lot of fun things but these are some of my highlights. When the whole school walked down to the  Hamanatua stream and learnt all about our pepeha. We also walked up our maunga, Maungaroa, it was so fun. Today we are going to the marae with the whole of Moana syndicate. If you couldn't tell already our school is walking our pepeha.

Hamanatua

We left school and started walking down the skinny walkway with our heavy bag on our back. When we got down there everything was worth it. Before we were allowed to go down onto the sand the teacher's said we had to sculpt a part of our pepeha. So me and Betsy decided to sculpt our whole pepeha. After we had all the fun down at the beach it was time to go home and that was the end of our fun day at the beach.

Maungaroa

Ding Ding Ding the bell rang and everyone rushed into class. We were so excited to walk up maungaroa. We left school with huge smile on their face so excited to walk up maungarua . There were so many of us going because it was the hole of moana syndicate. Any way we we started walking across all the road's to finally get to the one and only maungaroa. Thump thump thump our feat were dragging along the grassy ground because it was so hard to walk up. Finally we stopped to have some brain break and have a rest but all I can tell you the breck was not long. The goal was to walk to the top to see the light house and by the sound of the blog so far you're probably thinking we didn't make it but we did.

 Te Poho O Rawiri Marae

we jumped on the bus at around 12.30 with smiles on our faces so excited to go to the marae. When we got there we had to sit outside in the scorching hot sun while we waited for the other bus to arrive. We were welcomed in by Auntie Bubba. When we walked through the Matapihi we sang them our school song to welcome ourselves. Auntie Bubba told us some stories about what the carvings on the wall ment. Then we learnt a song called mama panda it was really fun to learn but I knew most of the song from last time. That was the end of our fun day at the marae.

Out of all the activities that we did that week my favorite was probably the marae because that was the place that I learnt most thing's. Another reason why the marae was my favorite place to go to was because we don't go there as often as all the other places in the blog. That was the end of probably one of the funnest week's of my life. The end.
