Action week

 Time to go to the beach

We travelled across the long itchy grass while holding our bright red house flag blowing in the wind. Koka Leah, a teacher at our school was videoing our house when we were marching down the sand . I gave the house flag to one of the other people in my house group and started spitting on to the sand. 123 321 that means stop look and listen. She told us to come in  to explain the next activite. I was so excited. She said that we had to make a sand culture of our house animal. 


We got one minute to plan what our seagull is going to look like. We ask who was the best at drawing bird it was a bog called Roy he was so good. We got him to draw a big outline of a seagull. Yay hes done we came up with a plan to dig around the outline of it so it could really stand out. It took awhile to dig around but I think it was worth it. 


Time to do the details. I wanted to do a fish in its mouth everyone else agreed to my idea. While some people worked on the fish other people decided to work on a baby seagull. The time was up we had to go in. We were quite sure we were going to win. I had a great feeling about this. Drum roll please Karoro and maina. Yayyyyyyyyyy.


We started walking back thought the long itchy. Still excited to get 200 points for our house group. Time for lunch yum.   

Pihita station the cow

One sunny morning Moana syndicate went on a trip up to  Pihita station.  We went on a big bus.  My favorite bit was the cow station.

At the cow station we got to see the person that ran the cow station. She should us a cow and how you milk the cow.  We saw some whipped cream, chocolate milk, cheese, feta cheese, milk and cream. We got to make some butter. We all had a turn shaking the jar to make the butter.

It was so fun!

Kapa Haka

 Kapa haka


Dingggggggggg the bell rings. Everyone is already and dressed in there Kapa Haka outfits the only thing left for us to do is get our photos done and our lipstick on and get our mokos on. OMG time has gone so fast its nearly time go. Our bus leaves at nine and it is already 8.50am. While we wait for our bus to get here we go back to class to get our earrings in. We go and line up on the deck in our class lines. On the way to kapa haka me and my friend  Betsy sat together on the way there. On the way there we started singing our kapa haka songs. We were so loud. Yay were there. 


I lepted out of the bus so much excitement in me . We walked through the gates to go and  get our pew pews  on. When we got them on they were so loud and noisy. Our kapa haka started at 10.30am and it was 10.00am. We started practicing our songs but we had to be quite because the other schools were also practicing.


Time to go backstage. There was a man that was on the stage that was talking to the ordeins and how we were about to perform. It felt like he was talking for ages but finerley it was time for us to go on stage. I put my foot on the first step I heard a creak I hope that wasn't my dress I said to my myself. The man welcomed us on it was really embarrassing. we got in our positions and Martira called whakapiri we all came together and started singing our first song Atariki. The ordicice were cheering like crazy. I think they loved it. 


When we finished the song they were so proud. we had microphones in front of us so we were very loud. When they stopped clapping Marita called neke atu and we all moved back out. Our next song was utaina We sang it through twice on the second round of it the girls moved back and the boys moved to the front.  Time for the Haka. The boys do two round of the haka with the girls singing at the back while doing the wiri wiri.  In the poe the girls move back to the front we do three rounds of it. On the third round the front row goes on there knees so the second row can be the spotlight.

The last song for the moana sindercite was wainui e, that was definitely my favorite song. For this song we also do two rounds of it like the haka. On the second round at the start of the song all the boys turned and left the stage then the forth row of girls then the third and on  the second to last veise finerley the second could go of. I was so happy because it was so embarrassing being up there in  front of all those people. We sang our school with our hole school it was so loud I think that was definitely the ordinances favorite song.

I walked through the gates. Seeing all of the rides  made me really want to go on them but I did not have my ride card. I couldn't take it anymore ,I  just had to go back and get the ride card. The line had got shorter. I grabbed out ten dollars then gave it to the lady, she gave me my ride card with five rides on it.

Slip and slide

When I went to go check out all the rides I saw one that looked so so so fun I had to go on it.  The line was so long but when I got to the front it was worth it. I got strapped up to the bungey and started running I could see the cold,icy coke and the end of the mat I grabbed hold of it then it fell out of my hand but at least i got chocolate.

Bubbles

I walked  over to the bubbles It was five dollars for ever ten minutes. I hoped in the bubble it was really tight but felt fun. I started running around and bumping people over . It was very very fun. The only things I did not like about it was that if you fell up sided down you could not get back up and the people would have to help you. When your timer had only ten seconds left they started counting down 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1.


Dinner Time

I was so hungry luckily it was time for dinner I went to mum to get my money she gave my She gave me ten dollars so I could get narchous. They were already out on the table. They looked so so so good. I love sour cream and there was so much on it including all the other things. I grabbed it of the table and ate it. It was so yum.


It started getting late and a lot of people had already gone. Every thing was getting packed up but there was still a big line at the slip and slide. I still had 3 rides left on my ride card so I wanted to have another tern but they run out of coke and  lemonade. So we left. I had such a fun time.

Athletics day

 Athletics day!


I heard the bell go and I was excited to do athletics. I was all dressed up in my house colour and that is red. I didn’t know what we were doing first but my best friend knew. She told me we were going to do a long jump first and that made me so excited.


Long jump


I was first in line for the long jump so that made me so nervous but excited at the same time. I ran so fast and leaped over the grass into the sandpit. I sadly didn’t make it into interschool for that but hopefully I make it for something else. I knew it was the next sprint and I was excited. 


Sprints


I walked over to the field that we do the sprints on. I’m so good at running so I was excited. I had a dot on my hand so I could only be in a race with some people that were not the same speed as me. She called up the boys and then the girls. I was the 3rd line so that made me sad. I came 3rd place in sprints so I didn't make it into interschool. We were doing high jump next and I like high jump. 


High Jump


I was so ready for the high jump. We were all on the blue cone. It was my turn and I was excited. I made it so I was on the blue cone still. It was my turn in 2 minutes.  I was so excited that I made it. I didn’t make it so I wasn’t in inter school. I thought I would make it into inter school for 200 metre.

We started walking over to the reserve. I was very nervous. The boys went first and then it was the girls. It was the first boy's heat and it went so fast. That made me more nervous. She called up my heat. I had a dot on my hand so I could not be in the same heat as the other people with the dot. There are six people in a heat. I got first in my heat so I went through to the finals and got second. I was so happy because I got to go to interschool. It was going to be my first inter school I have ever been to.


Yay that was athletes day was already finished luckley I had fun and tried my best. Time for ice-creams yum best day everrrrr.

My blog post about Bee bots

 Bee bots


Today was the first time we worked with bee bots.  A bee bot is a small robot that is about 10 cm tall and 10cm long. You give them instructions to move where you want them to move. I liked playing with the bee bots. They are yellow and black just like bees that is why they are called bee-bots.


When it was my turn  with them I pushed the bee bots buttons. I was really excited because you can give them instructions. There are arrows on the top of the bee-bot, those arrows give the bee-bots instructions that make them move and make them go where you want them to go.


When I laid out my pictures I pushed some of the arrows. Then brung the bee-bot back to the start and pushed go. Off it went with a big speed of lightning. Me and Matiria made the grid that we were using


Our reading group read a book that is called McBungles African safari. We had to make pictures to put on the grid.  Lay them out were you want them to go and then mark the places on the bee bot. Then when you push go it goes in the order you push left, right, back and front.


So that is the end of our amazing reading group. I loved reading group this week.

Tuahine lighthouse

 Tuahine lighthouse

Last term in term 2 the Moana syndicate walk down along the beach. The walk to the Tuahine lighthouse took us about 2 hours two get there and back. Room four (Honu) made a metaphor of the tuahine lighthouse. You had to do it by yourself.


 It was so fun and interesting. I and some other people are still finishing of the lighthouse metaphor. In my lighthouse metaphor I have included all of the detail it needs I have even included all of the drips, leaks and rocks. The lighthouse lights up our learning in a lot of different ways. Some of the ways are shine your light, shine bright and a new one we made up is lead the way. For us to shine our light we have these things called shind cards. Your teacher will give one out to you if you have been shining your light and a lot of other ways. This is our lighthouse metaphor.

My Adventure To Enviro Center

                    My favorite trip to the Tairawhiti Enviro Center                              
Last week on thursday our class went to the enviro center with
 room 1.
I was so excited to go because I love going on a bus. We all lined up on the deck waiting for the bus to come. We all got our self in to a buddie. The bus was a really big. Me and my friends were really disappointed because our friend Sarah left on wednesday to go back to America and we had our trip on thursday.

When we got to the enviro center we jumped out of the bus. Then we went into the enviro center. it looked way cooler than I thought. we got splitted up into groups. They told us the different rooms and what they do.

The first room we went in to had so much food. There was eggs,bread,cupcakes cake,cookies and alot more. All of that was the food that people throw out or it good be expired. They said the food can still be eaten if it is just accupel days over its expired date. The lady showed us a big plastic container with two small cup-cakes in it. There were lots of boxes with food in them. The boxes had labels on them they were different names of places that they would give it to. Then we moved to the next room.

The next place was composting the lady made us grab a big had fill on compost it was gross. She made us try guess what was in it. It had the worst smell. Then she took us over to a table and asked us some questions about what you put in a compost. we started to rip up some cardboard boxes so she could put it the compost. Now it was time to move on to the next  activity.

The next activity was worm farming. At worm farming the lady gave us a little handful of dirt-worms in it. It felt really cool.She made us it back . When we put it back she picked to people to do a little test. The test was about what you put in a worm farm. There was a lot of contaters on the table they all had a different food in them. The two people she choose where Betsy and Indie. Indie had to put the things that they do not like in on the left side and Betsy put the thing that they do like on the right. Then after that we had to move to the next activity.


Then we went back in side. in side there were bean bags they were very loud because they had plastic bottles in them. We went into this really cool room  that had big plastic food. She ask us some questions. We left the room and watched a video about when people put so much rubbish into the sea and when there was a big flood and all of the rubbish aperd out of the water. It took so long to clean up. More just keeps on appearing and appearing. that was the end of the video.
Then the bus came and we saw koka Lias old class and they all new her. It took the bus ten minutes to get here but it was worth it.
